According to data released by GlobalWebIndex, Google Maps is the most used smartphone app, with over 54 per cent of the global smartphone population using the app in the last month. Apple Maps is nowhere to be seen but Nokia's Ovi Maps clocks 9 per cent of smartphone usage and ranks No. 11 in the chart.

Monster galaxies lose their appetite with age

Monster galaxies appear to slow their growth over time, feeding less and less off neighbouring galaxies, astronomers have found.

Galaxy clusters are made up of thousands of galaxies, gathered around their biggest member, what astronomers call the brightest cluster galaxy, or BCG.

BCGs can be up to dozens of times the mass of galaxies like our own Milky Way. They plump up in size by cannibalising other galaxies, as well as assimilating stars that are funnelled into the middle of a growing cluster.
